Spring Clean-Up 2009

It's that time of the year again, time to make our area of the world just a bit cleaner and more appealing to residents and visitors alike.  The Chatter is hosting a website for the event this year, it can be found at:  www.cleanup2009.meadowlakeschatter.com

Every year for the past 15 years, the Meadow Lakes Community Council in conjunction with the Mat-Su Borough have promoted the Annual Spring Clean-Up.  Residents are encouraged to participate in cleaning up our public use areas; roadways, lakes, parks, etc.  Last year the participants rounded up 28,800 lbs. of roadside garbage and an additional 7,560 lbs. of hazardous materials.

Businesses are encouraged to participate by donating prizes, money and services, along with being responsible for the highway frontage that abutts each business.

Early sign-up begins on April 24th and the first bag can be dropped on May 4th at the dumpster that will be located at Meadow Lakes Fire Department #71 located 1.4 miles up Pittman from the Parks Highway.  The celebratory Community Block Party will be held on May 17th.  Festivities will include the Pig Roast, supplemented with your potluck items, 3rd Annual Bake-Off, Karaoke, Smokey The Bear, Uncle Sam, Games and Contests for all.  Visit the website: www.cleanup2009.meadowlakeschatter.com
